The EU Eco-design Rules for light sources and Independent control Devices published in 2019 and the 12 RoHS authorisation directives published in February 2022 will affect the placement of compact and straight tube fluorescent lamps for general lighting, as well as mains voltage tungsten halogen lamps and low-voltage tungsten halogen lamps on the EU market in the coming weeks.

With the rapid development of LED lighting products, its efficient and energy-saving properties are increasingly favored by the market. Traditional lighting products such as fluorescent lamps and halogen tungsten lamps are gradually withdrawing from the market. In recent years, in order to deal with climate and energy issues, the EU attaches great importance to the energy-saving and environmental protection attributes of electrical products, and constantly improves the performance requirements of relevant products.

According to customs data, from 2014 to 2022, the export volume of fluorescent lamps and halogen tungsten lamps exported to the EU continued to decline. Among them, the export volume of fluorescent lamp products fell by nearly 77%; The export volume of halogen tungsten lamp products decreased by nearly 79%.

From January to June in 023, the export value of China's lighting products to the EU market was 4.9 billion US dollars, down 14% year-on-year. Since the beginning of this year, the EU market has accelerated the elimination of high-energy-consuming traditional lighting products such as fluorescent lamps and halogen tungsten lamps to promote LED electric light source products. Fluorescent lamp products and halogen tungsten lamp products in the EU market exports fell by about 7 percentage points, LED electric light source products rose by about 8 percentage points.

The export volume and export volume of fluorescent lamps and halogen tungsten lamps have declined. Among them, the export volume of fluorescent lamp products fell by 32%, and the export value fell by 64%. The export volume of halogen tungsten lamp products fell by 17%, and the export value fell by 43%.

In recent years, with the gradual implementation of environmental protection laws promulgated in foreign markets, the export volume of fluorescent lamps and halogen tungsten lamps has been affected by a significant decline, which enterprises should do a good job in production and export planning, pay attention to the notice of environmental protection laws issued by relevant markets, timely adjustment of production and sales plans should also consider the transformation of production of LED and other environmental protection electric light sources.
